DD Statement - print file

This page describes how DD statements can be used to allocate print data sets.

Print data sets are no longer routed directly to printers, but are generally captured as Spool Files managed by the Job Entry Sub-system (JES).

Whilst there are other operands that can be associated with print data sets, it is the SYSOUT= operand which controls resource allocation, and allows the output to be captured on one of 36 output classes.
