What Resources are Managed
z/OS Job Control Language is not a programming language, despite the presence of IF and ELSE Statements,
there is no iterative processing capability.
Its function is to allocate system resources and in that context it facilitates access to:
- Processor - via JOB and/or EXEC Statements
- Memory - via JOB and/or EXEC Statements
- Peripherals - via DD Statements
This overview explains the principles of resource control without describing any parameters in detail. Not all statements, or operands are covered as that would impinge on JCL Course material.
