What do we know? - 2 of 2

Every computer needs both an Operating Systems, and Applications software to be functional. The most common PC Operating System is Microsoft Windows, although Apple Mac's have their own Operating System.

An Operating System on its own is insufficient, whether the computer is used for Business or Pleasure, Applications are needed, and some common ones are shown opposite.

A mainframe will also have a range of Applications, but these will be completely different, as a mainframe is not a suitable environment for most PC Applications.
